Impact Day brought together industry leaders, partners, and innovators to explore how business events can drive meaningful change in society. The event was packed with insights and case studies that highlighted the power of collaboration, the role of design in sustainability, and the opportunities for evolving our approach to meet the needs of a changing world.
Here are some of the key insights shared throughout the day:
Unveiling a New Methodology
Gemmeke De Jongh (she/her) from VISITFLANDERS Convention Bureau shared insights into their co-designed methodology for creating measurable impact from business events. We’re proud to have contributed to this effort, anchored in our M4I methodology.
The Power of Dialogue
Jan Beyne from the Antwerp Management School reminded us of the critical role dialogue plays in creating genuine impact. His message was clear: real change doesn’t come from intention alone but from the actual effects of our actions. Meaningful conversations are essential to identify and address the issues that matter, paving the way for transformative outcomes.
Insights from Engaging Case Studies
The event showcased successful case studies from organizations like the European Association of Communication Directors (EACD), the European Federation of Food Science and Technology, and the World Breaking Championship. These examples demonstrated how creative partnerships and strategic initiatives can drive social and environmental change, offering models for others to follow.
Ben Hainsworth, Executive Director of EASL and Impact Award Judge, shared an insightful case study on how partnerships amplify impact. His presentation provided valuable lessons for associations aiming to leverage collaboration as a means to scale their influence.
The Importance of Impact Collaborations
In an engaging discussion, Guy Bigwood (CEO of GDS-Movement) and Genevieve Leclerc (CEO of #MEET4IMPACT) underscored the importance of securing funding and cross-sector partnerships for impact-driven projects. They emphasized that by working together, organizations can achieve far-reaching outcomes that go beyond the scope of what any single entity could accomplish.
Designing for Sustainability
Hannelore Martens presented strategies for incorporating circularity into event planning, reducing resource use, and expanding sustainability practices. By designing with intention, the events and tourism industry can help set new standards for environmental responsibility.
A Sustainable Future for All
Tina Verstuyft from VISITFLANDERS shared inspiring insights into their commitment to inclusive and accessible tourism. Her presentation underscored that a truly impactful approach means ensuring that benefits reach all communities, creating a more equitable and sustainable future for everyone.
